Police question sacked Sierra Leonean Minister

Sesay was interrogated by personnel of the Police Crime Services for several hours at the Joint operational Command centre at a seaside village of Murray Town, west of the capital, Freetown, following his sack on Monday.

Though details of the interrogation were not made known, police sources told PANA that the questioning was directly related to the cocaine plane saga.

Police Assistant Inspector General in charge of crime services, Francis Munu, said the sacked minister was released after questioning.

Meanwhile, the police have apprehended few other people, including Air Traffic Controller Ibrahim Manley, as they continue with their investigation of the cocaine saga.

Sesay was sacked as Transport Minister on Monday by President Ernest Bai Koroma, in an effort to 'facilitate' the investigation..

The plane landed unannounced at the International Airport in Lungi, and the crew members immediately ran into a brand new white Toyota Land cruiser which forced its way through the perimeter fence and fled.

They were later apprehended by residents and motor drivers in Port Loko District, while trying to flee to neighboring Guinea.

Nineteen people were subsequently arrested and charged to court.

In a nationwide broadcast, President Koroma promised that he would not protect anyone that is involved in the cocaine incident.
