He said that he watched the semi-final match between Nigeria and Belgium along with FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, and that both were impressed with the skills of the Nigerian players.
He urged Nigeria to strive and win the match, not just for the country but for Africa.
He pointed out that most of the struggle for more African teams in FIFA competitions had been won largely due to the performances of “our teams on the field'.
He said Africa would continue to do better and that the fact that the continent had its three teams in the quarter finals was an indication that the continent's teams to the 2010 World Cup would be formidable.
Meanwhile, a former Coach of the Super Eagles, Velibor ‘Bora' Milutinovic was the cynosure of all eyes as he made his way to the Main Press Centre of the Beijing 2008 Olympics Wednesday.
Even some volunteers temporarily abandoned their duty posts to either request for photographs or just to shake his hands.
China was one of the countries Bora coached after leaving Nigeria.
He said he wished Nigeria would win the gold medal as they did 12 years ago, but he said the Argentines seemed to have a more balanced side.
However, he said, the determination which Nigerian players had always exhibited have would likely play a major factor in Saturday's game. |
