Bose Kaffo lost three straight sets, 11-7, 11-2 and 11-7, to Holland's Li Jiao in a match that lasted barely 15 minutes.

In the second match in Group B, Cecilia Otu Effiong put up a more gallant show, picking a game and eventually losing 3-1 to Li Jie in a game that spanned 23 minutes.

She won her first game 12-10, but lost the second 11-9 and crumbled miserably 11-2 in the third.

The third game was very brisk as the Dutch lady made it snappy under two minutes. The last encounter was 11-6.

In the doubles, the pair of Oshonaike and Effiong was also beaten 3-1 by the Dutch duo of Timina and Li.

Under two minutes, the Dutch pair dismissed the Nigerians 11-4 in the first game.

They again won the second game 11-8 before the Nigerian pair won the third 12-10 and lost the fourth 11-7.

The men's team, which competed in Group D, did not fare better as it was beaten 3-0 by Japan in a game that comprised of two singles and one double.

Segun Toriola opened his game with Japanese Jun Mizutani, losing 11-9 in the opener.

He fought back to pick the next match 11-3 under three minutes, but the Japanese returned with fireworks in the next game and won 11-9, while also clinching the last one 11-8.

His counterpart, Monday Merotohun, also had a 3-1 loss to Japan's Kan Yo.

The only game he won was the third set, which he took at 11-9.

He lost the preceding two games 11-5, 11-4 and the last 11-7.

In the doubles, the two Nigerians proved no match for the pair of Kishikawa and Mizutani as they lost three sets - 11-9, 11-7, and 11-7.
